Electrodes
Electrodes are required to measure EEG signals with any PiEEG device. All PiEEG hardware uses a standard 2.54 mm pin pitch connector, making it compatible with a wide range of electrode types.
Supported Electrode Types
Dry Electrodes
Dry electrodes require no preparation gel or paste, making them ideal for quick setups, everyday use, and longer recording sessions. They are the most convenient option for most users. Ag/AgCl (Wet) Electrodes Silver/silver chloride electrodes provide excellent signal quality and are the standard choice in research and clinical settings. They require conductive gel applied to the scalp for optimal contact, but deliver lower impedance and reduced noise compared to dry electrodes.
Wet electrodes
Wet electrodes also available directly from the PiEEG Shop. They are fully compatible with all PiEEG devices.
Choosing the Right Electrode
| Electrode Type | Setup Required | Signal Quality | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dry | None | Good | Quick sessions, everyday use |
| Ag/AgCl (Wet) | Conductive gel | Excellent | Research, clinical, high-precision work |
