octoBridge
octobridge.pieeg.com (opens in a new tab) is the PiEEG classroom lab in the browser. Wear Octopus-16, plug in the octoBio Kit, watch live readings, and run programs on the board. No Arduino IDE, no PiEEG Server, no account.
Project name: octobridge. Product name in the app: octoBridge.
Classroom tool. Not a medical device. Band power, focus, and relax are uncalibrated classroom indexes, not a diagnosis.
Open it
Use Chrome or Edge
Desktop Chrome or Edge on HTTPS. Safari and phones cannot open USB serial. Bluetooth and USB stay in this tab.
Open the lab
Go to octobridge.pieeg.com (opens in a new tab).
Flash, then connect
First time, open Flash (opens in a new tab). Then Connect (opens in a new tab). Skip a device you do not have. Numbers stay still until that device is live.
Two devices
| Device | Link | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Octopus-16 | Bluetooth | 16-channel biosignal sensor. The browser computes relative band power in the tab. Appears as Octopus-16-XXXX after flashing. |
| octoBio Kit | USB serial, 115200 baud | Arduino Uno (ATmega328P) board: room sensors, lights, relay, buzzer, servo, and a 16×2 screen. |
You can use one without the other.
Lab flow
| Step | Page | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| — | Home (opens in a new tab) | What you can read, what you can move, and ready mixes. |
| — | Flash (opens in a new tab) | Put firmware on the board from the browser. First time only. |
| 1 | Connect (opens in a new tab) | Pair Octopus-16 and/or the octoBio Kit. |
| 2 | Board (opens in a new tab) | Live numbers, lights, motor, and screen. |
| 3 | Blocks (opens in a new tab) | Stack a program and run it. This does not flash a new sketch. |
| 4 | Learn (opens in a new tab) | Lessons on what a reading is allowed to mean. Does not send commands. |
| 5 | Write (opens in a new tab) | The same program, written like a page. |
| 6 | Repeat (opens in a new tab) | Six ready machines. Same run as Blocks. Does not save over your stack. |
What you can read
octoBio Kit: light (lux), distance (cm; needs a facing surface), temperature (°C), humidity (%), moisture (ADC 0–1023), sound (ADC), knob (ADC), button, PIR motion, IR remote codes, and 6-axis tilt (no heading).
Octopus-16: relative delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma; uncalibrated focus and relax indexes; RMS (µV); strongest EEG band; and an “EEG ok” check (RMS between 2 and 200 µV). Blink and jaw raise RMS and gamma.
What you can move
On the octoBio Kit: light D10 (on, off, flash), light D8 (on, off), relay, buzzer, servo (0–180°), and the 16×2 screen.
Blocks can mix a reading into a move. Examples already in the lab: eyes closed → light on, walk-by → buzzer, knob → servo, focus → servo (focus meter), distance → light, alpha and no motion → a line on the screen.
Flash firmware
From octobridge.pieeg.com/flash (opens in a new tab). Chrome or Edge, USB data cable. No Arduino IDE.
| Target | Board | How |
|---|---|---|
| Octopus-16 | Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-S3 | Install Octopus-16. If no port appears, hold BOOT, tap RESET, release BOOT, then install again. Unplug and replug. It shows up over Bluetooth as Octopus-16-XXXX. |
| Puck | CrowPanel 2.1 rotary HMI | Install Puck. The panel links to an Octopus-16 over Bluetooth. No Wi-Fi. The image is 16 MB. |
| octoBio Kit | Arduino Uno / ATmega328P (official 16U2 or CH340) | Close any other serial monitor. Flash octoBio Kit. About 20 seconds. The screen should say octoBio Kit Ready. Not Leonardo, Mega, ESP32, or a board with no bootloader. |
When the octoBio Kit port opens, the board restarts. Wait until status is live. The kit speaks a line protocol at 115200 baud and answers INF protocol=1 ready.
Limits
- Needs Chrome or Edge on HTTPS (the hosted site) or localhost.
- USB serial and Bluetooth stay in this browser. Nothing is uploaded to a PiEEG server.
- Distance needs a facing surface. A missed echo is a negative number, not “very far”.
- Sound, moisture, and the knob are raw counts (0–1023), not calibrated units.
- Focus and relax are uncalibrated indexes. Do not treat them as mood or a clinical score.
