Software Setup

Software Setup Options

Choose one of the following methods to install and run the BodyPress application:

Option A: Work Directly in VR (Recommended)

Install the native VR app from the Meta Quest Store to view and analyze your bio-signal data directly inside your headset.

Option B: Mobile Setup (Android)

Alternatively, test and stream device data on your Android mobile device using the official Google Play application.

1. Running PiEEG XR on Meta Quest

Learn how to deploy and configure PiEEG XR on Meta Quest. This covers hardware setup, software dependencies, and running real-time EEG processing in XR.

2. Brain-Reactive VRChat Avatar (OSC Configuration)

Configure Open Sound Control (OSC) to send real-time EEG brainwave metrics into VRChat to control avatar animations, parameters, and visual effects dynamically.

[!NOTE] You don't need a Meta Quest to try PiEEG XR — you can test it directly through the PiEEG Server in your browser.

1. Connect via the Live Demo

  1. Open pieeg.com (opens in a new tab) and click Try Live Demo.
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on your device.
  3. Connect to the PiEEG XR device over BLE.

Once connected, live data begins streaming.

2. Test the Signal

  1. Put the mask on your face.
  2. Watch the incoming data and run a few simple tests — blinking and chewing produce clear, visible signals.
  3. Experiment with the band-pass filter and other settings.
  4. Save your data, or test facial mimics through the built-in mini-games.
